BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla also stated earlier in May that India's participation in Champions Trophy 2025 would depend on the approval of the central government. He told ANI, "In the case of the Champions Trophy, we will do whatever the Government of India tells us. We send our team only when the Government of India gives us permission."
The post-match ceremonies of any IPL final are usually a lengthy affair. Players of the winning teams are interviewed, owners – in this case Shah Rukh Khan – come down to celebrate with the entire team. Then, even once the post-match ceremony is underway, the broadcasters thank and mention all the dignitaries in attendance and who played a role in the tournament. Finally, the runner-up team collects its individual medals before the winning team lifts the trophy. While all this was a moment to savour for KKR, who won the first after 10 years, it stretched on a little too much, insisted Starc.
